perancangan over voltage protection (OVP) pada instalasi pengisian aki
Abstract
Solar panels are devices consisting of solar cells that can convert sunlight into electrical energy. Installed solar panels are generally still static, causing the reception of sunlight to not be optimal. The greater the light intensity captured, the greater the electrical power produced by the solar panels. Therefore, a proper regulatory system is created, such as over voltage protection, to maintain circuit safety and ensure system performance remains optimal. This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research, with a scientific approach, and uses the R&D (Research and Development) method which includes: planning, data collection, data processing, design, manufacture and implementation. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the design of over voltage protection (OVP) in battery charging installations is used as a circuit safety, and also as a safety when excessive voltage occurs which exceeds the maximum limit of 14V when charging batteries from solar panels. The over voltage protection (OVP) circuit will detect the incoming voltage produced by the solar panel, if the incoming voltage is normal then the green LED light on the circuit will light up, and if the incoming voltage exceeds the maximum voltage of 14V then the relay will automatically break the circuit and the red LED light on the circuit will light up.
